Soul time
Do we really know how this is? We get so caught up in doing that we just go through our days, getting ‘stuff’ done, going through the motions, anxious to get on to the next thing to get it done and we can move through our lives just doing.
We forget about being. We are human beings, not human doings. We get used to the busy-ness and empty space and open time becomes time to be filled, so we don’t stop, we don’t think. This happens to everyone at some point, at least for some period of time.
And, sometimes great productivity comes from being busy and getting things done. Our jobs sometimes demand we give and give and give, sometimes until we burn out. And then, we give some more. Especially women. So often we put others needs before our own and we mostly do it graciously and easily. But what about you? Give yourself some soul time(!)
Feed your Soul
Does being so busy feed your soul?
Does it take you away from what is yours to do? Can you live your life on purpose? It might. But taking some time – even now and then to stop and think about what is yours to do is soul-nourishing. By what is your to do, I don’t mean your job description, I mean your deep down purpose, what you are here to do and be.
It doesn’t need to be earth-shattering, or revolutionary, but it does need, on some level, to feed your soul and make you feel alive and full of purpose. It may mean pursuing a dream. It may look like how you show up in the world.
Sometimes it can be as simple as aligning with your purpose and showing up in the world living your values. We can all have impact every day, in the world we move in. Does a kind word or gesture or someone taking the extra moment to acknowledge you make a difference in your world?
Living a Soul’s Purpose
That happens when someone, living our soul’s purpose connects with you. What is yours to do shows up in kindness, compassion and love.. And it does make a difference in the world.
You know you’re doing what is yours to do when you feel in alignment and you sense that inner peace, or even inner excitement –however that ‘on the right track’ feeling shows up for you. What’s important is to take the time to tune into it. You might be surprised to find it doesn’t take long to do and that the satisfaction you experience in your life increases significantly. I believe that deep down we all really know the answers we are seeking, we just need to take the time to tune in, get quiet and be.
That may have gotten more difficult to do, but I’m proposing that rewards are proportionally greater too. Make sense? The busier you are, the harder it is to slow down and just be. BUT – the rewards you get are proportional to how busy you are. In other words you don’t need to slow down completely and you don’t need a whole lot of time to do it, which is good news for the chronically busy (!)
The value you’ll get and the results you’ll experience are so well worth it. Here’s to unplugging, tuning into your soul’s purpose and showing up the way you choose in your life and in the world.
