In the last article I talked about the joy of being a child and spending our days following our pleasure, using our creativity, being who we came into the world to be. We grow away from that, but I believe we can get back in touch with our true selves because who we are doesn’t fade or change, it may get buried or hidden, but that essence of you is there and you have something real and meaningful to contribute.
We have a tendency to be pretty hard on ourselves, wouldn’t you agree? I bet if you sat still and allowed yourself to relax you could recapture some childhood moments of feeling free or experiencing wonder. Can you remember?
Drink in that feeling and ask yourself these questions:
-
Why am I here?
-
Who am I at the core of my being?
-
What am I meant to be doing with my life?
Don’t try and come up with answers. Let your mind be at ease and just wait. See what floats up for you? Can you go back to where you started?
We all have a yearning to know that we will have left our mark on the world by the end of our life. We want to be remembered as someone who made a difference in the lives of others and fulfilled our own highest potential. What better possibility is there in life? We know it’s a short and finite journey and we want it to be meaningful, inspirational, deliberate.
Life in Alignment
When you are doing things in your life in alignment with your Purpose, your true and unique inner calling, you feel fulfilled and excited. You know you are making a difference in the world. That difference doesn’t have to be earth-shattering or even far-reaching. If you can show up in this way in all your every day transactions with all who you meet, you can change the world.
As the great anthropologist Margaret Mead is famously quoted:
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
When things go smoothly, when you are tuned into your true self, happy “coincidences” bring good things to you on a regular basis. Your life just seems filled with ease and synchronicity.
Conversely, when how you spend your time and who you spend it with are out of sync with who you truly are at your core, you will seem to face obstacle after obstacle. Even if you achieve some material success, your life feels strangely unfulfilled.
However, when you get in touch with your purpose, you experience greater happiness and more success which often shows up as financial abundance.
There are things you are meant to be, and designed to do. You will be happiest, most fulfilled, and most successful, when you are doing the things that are most purposeful for you.

You have to start with No.1! The essence of what you bring will filter out to those the need you most. (I believe in a niche, we all do. What what would it be like if you knew deep down what it is that you are meant to do and who you are to serve?)
